Sands Casino Bethlehem Bad Beat Jackpot 2020
A New York man has just seen his fortunes dramatically reversed after hitting an undisclosed slot machine jackpot whilst playing at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem in Pennsylvania. Not only did the casino patron subsequently have his winnings forfeited, but he was then charged with underage gambling by police.
Unlike Europe and Canada where the gambling age limit is usually around 18, in the US it is mostly pegged at 21, although it does depends on local state law. Needless to say, Pennsylvania law requires a person to be over 21 to gamble in casinos, much to the chagrin of Rong Lin of Fresh Meadows, New York, who was aged just 20.
It would seem Mr Lin had tried to circumvent state laws by using fake identification to enter the casino, when he ended up hitting the slots jackpot at 7:40 p.m on Wednesday night. Although the amount of his winnings have not been revealed, if it had been less than $1,200 he would likely have been able to collect the money and leave without much fanfare. However, above that threshold a casino worker is automatically summoned to deal with an Internal Revenue Service form related to paying taxes on winnings, and a player must provide identification during the process.
Apparently, at that stage a casino security manager then became suspicious over the validity of his identification leading to a state trooper being called out and confirming Mr Lin had been using false identification.
Commenting on the whole incident, Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board spokesman Doug Harbach, said: “We say all the time, casinos have got to be the worst place to go to commit a crime. It’s just not a risk people should be taking. They report this kind of thing right away. For these individuals to think they’re going to get away with something like this, they’re wrong! And there’s criminal charges attached to it and you could end up with a record.”
Let's start by pointing out that although The Sands is called a casino resort, by license in the state of Pennsylvania it is actually classed as a stand alone casino. To the average casino player however this makes absolutely no difference and this place, whatever you want to call it, stand alone or resort is simply superb. Let's take a look at a few of the things on offer here and then we'll get to the good part....the slots and the awesome gambling action that's to be had. Sands Bethlehem offers great accommodation with rooms available to suit all budgets with the pool and fitness center available all day and well into the evening. They also offer special packages with deals all the time such as two nights for the price of one, and these depend on the time of year, so best to keep checking the site. When it comes to dining, you are spoiled for choice and may choose from fine cuisine at the Emeril Lagasse’s Chop House or keep it nice and simple by trying out one of the many casual restaurants that are available. Nightlife and the astounding variety on offer is a big deal at Sands and every night you can find great acts keeping the crowds entertained and if you feel up for it then as part of the complex you'll find Vision Bar open until very late. There's also a business center and shopping outlets making it the one stop shop for just about all you need for a day and night on the town!
